Rizal tourism gets a boost

ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal – With tourism development included in the six components of the provincial government’s flagship program, the Ynares Eco-System (YES) To Green Program, Rizal Gov. Rebecca Ynares has called on all tourism development stakeholders of the province to join the provincial government’s efforts in promoting and developing tourism potentials of the province.

During the Sining, Kultura at Turismo (SIKAT) ng Rizal council meeting held recently, Gov. Ynares threw her full support to the promotion and development of tourism in the province, through the present program dubbed as “Pasyal sa Rizal”, showcasing what the province has to offer in terms of places, products and services.

Guided by the vision of providing HEART-warming experience, tourism officers of all municipalities/city of the province, together with tourism stakeholders that include travel and tour operators, resort owners, artists, hotel and restaurant owners, and others, pledged their commitment of giving a boost to the province’s tourism industry. HEART stands for Health and wellness; Eco-tourism; Arts, culture and heritage; Restaurant and recreation; and Trade and industry, a vision that will place Rizal in the tourism map of the country and even the world.

Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 4 Director Rebecca Labit has challenged the council members and participants to be ready with the expected influx of foreign tourists to the country next year because of the incoming visit of the Pope in January and the APEC meeting of leaders of different countries in the Asia-Pacific region. With the proximity of the province from Metro Manila which will be site of these two big events, Gov. Ynares and DOT Regional Director Labit see a great opportunity for Rizal to attract tourists and to showcase the province’s great tourism potentials.
