YES information, education campaign eyes barangays

PROVINCIAL CAPITOL, Antipolo, Rizal – Fueled by her desire to educate and empower her constituents, Rizal Gov. Nini Ynares set her eyes on intensifying the YES (Ynares Eco System) to Green Program through what she called the ‘barangayan’.

After the successful training of YES Environmental Armies, this time, the YES Barangay Stewards’ Training and Information, Education Campaign (IEC) kicked-off at the municipalities of Teresa and Tanay with Gov. Ynares encouraging the continued support of her constituents for the success of the project.

In a statement, Gov. Ynares said that the provincial government is now targeting heads of councils and civic groups to be trained on environmental protection. These groups are composed of barangay captains, women’s associations, barangay health workers, senior citizens, daycare workers, 4 Ps or Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, parents-teachers associations or PTAs, among others.

On its initial phase, more than 800 barangay stewards were trained by resource persons coming from the Rizal Association of City/Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officers (RACMENRO) of the province.  The best practices on environmental protection, such as proper waste disposal and segregation, clean-up of rivers and water tributaries, tree planting, among others were discussed on the training.

“I am just delighted with the strong show of support of all our LCEs, and the enthusiasm being shown by our barangay stewards in this training. It just shows their commitment to the fulfillment of the vision and mission of the YES to Green Program of the provincial government,” remarked Gov. Ynares.
