RIZAL GOV'T SIGNS AGREEMENT FOR HINULUGANG TAKTAK DEVELOPMENT

PROVINCIAL CAPITOL, Rizal Province - Governor Nini Ynares representing the Rizal Provincial Government (RPG) recently leads the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the Hinulugang Taktak Protected Landscape (HTPL) together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Calabarzon Region headed by its Regional Executive Director (RED) Reynulfo A. Juan and the City Government of Antipolo (CGA) led by Mayor Jun Ynares here. The MoA calls for the co-administration and co-management of the HTPL with an area of 3.2 hectares as defined under Proclamation No. 412, declaring the Hinulugang Taktak waterfalls under the category of Protected Landscape, to ensure the protection, sustainable development and rehabilitation of the area. Also, under the agreement, the DENR through the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) of the HTPL, chaired by RED Juan and co-chaired by Gov. Ynares shall oversee the active participation of all concerned and other stakeholders in the protection and management of the abovementioned natural resources. Gov. Ynares has always been a strong advocate of a sustainable development and protection of the environment. Her flagship project YES to Green (Ynares Eco System) Program which has three components: cleaning, greening and recycling, has been successfully launched and supported by all the municipalities and one component city in the province. The HTPL is a priority project under the YES Program. “It is high time that we bring back the glory of one of the most iconic waterfalls in the province and the whole country. I assure our constituents that more environmentally sound projects are in the pipeline,” remarked Gov. Ynares.
